How to judge whether it is rotten

Look at the root

Observe the root of the plant. If it turns yellow, black and soft, the epidermis is easy to fall off, and only the lignified part is left, indicating that the root system has rotted

Smell

If the roots smell rotten or the water is smelly, it indicates that the roots have rotted

What if it's rotten

1. Take the plant out of the hydroponic flask, wash it with clean water, and then cut off the rotten roots and tubers

2. Soak the pruned plant roots in 0.5% potassium permanganate solution or 0.1% carbendazim solution for 20 ~ 30 minutes

3. Add a few drops of potassium permanganate solution to the hydroponic flask for disinfection, wash and change the water again, and then put the treated plants in for maintenance

How to prevent root rot

To prevent the root rot of the plant, you can add some fungicides or articles with sterilization and disinfection effect to the hydroponic bottle every time you change the water, which is not only conducive to growth, but also worry and trouble-free

Ferrous sulfate

Adding ferrous sulfate solution into water can supplement iron for plants and adjust the acid-base balance of water quality, so as to avoid yellow leaves and rotten roots

Usage and dosage: dilute ferrous sulfate powder 1000 times with water, and then drop 5 ~ 8 drops into the hydroponic flask every half a month or so

Metronidazole

Metronidazole can effectively kill anaerobic bacteria in water and prevent water from smelling due to bacterial infection

Usage and dosage: mix one metronidazole tablet with 1000 ml of water, and drop a few drops into the hydroponic bottle when changing the water each time

Charcoal

Charcoal has good adsorption and anti-corrosion effects. Putting it into the bottle can effectively purify the water quality and prevent Plant Rhizomes from rotting

Usage and dosage: when changing water each time, add 5 ~ 7 pieces of charcoal the size of thumb into the bottle to prevent corrosion

Rusty nails

The action principle of rusty nails in water is the same as that of ferrous sulfate solution. They can supplement iron elements for leaves and prevent yellow leaves from rotting. The operation is simple but the effect is slow

Usage and dosage: throw the rusty iron nails directly into the water, 2 ~ 3, and take them out every time you change the water

Carbendazim

Carbendazim can also play a good role in disinfection and sterilization. Adding it into the water can prevent rotten roots and heal wounds

Usage and dosage: dilute carbendazim solution with water according to the instructions, and drop a few drops into the hydroponic flask every 3 ~ 5 days
